Measels outbreak in Washington sparks vaccination debates... again

An interesting story. Apparently, they (I believe the state of Washington) are now trying to pass a law that prohibits parents from vaccinating their kids for "moral, personal and philosophical" reasons, but still allows parents to deny their child vaccinations based on religious reasons. So lawmakers are, once again, pandering to the religious assholes in order to avoid a shitstorm.

I'm so sick of this nonsense. If Nutbag A cannot opt out of vaccinations for moral or philosophical reasons then why should Nutbag B be allowed to do it for religious reasons?

I can understand wanting to maybe wait on some vaccinations, like the HPV vaccinations which can cause serious health problems in small percentages of children, but to just overall deny your kid the vaccinations that can possibly save their life is absolutely retarded. I'm sorry it just is.

What do you guys think?
If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.

If the people in power didn't agree to prop up religion it would have already died out.

Not vaccinating your child should be a felony offense, where the punishment is 2 years in prison and you lose custody of your children. This shit has gone way too far.

It shouldn't be allowed.  "Religious reasons" is just another name for "philosophical reasons".
The only exemptions allowed should be for medical reasons, which have been verified by a qualified physician.

Everybody has the right to believe what they want; they don't have the right to use their beliefs as an excuse for putting their neighbors at risk.

I think people should be allowed not to vaccinate their kids.

But those kids should not be allowed contact with other children in parks, schools, events or any public places.

Mothers have a right not to vaccinate, and the society has a right to protect itself.

There is no debate. There are only assholes selling conspiracy to gullible people. Just like big oil companies and car companies don't want to face the fact our species is causing global warming.
