I assume this alleged "shakiness" you speak of is a swipe at his being more of centrist.
That's precisely why I think he may stand a chance at winning.

Cruz defeated him in TEXAS by a very narrow margin, which I think is a fairly remarkable testament of Beto's ability to appeal to broader swaths of voters. 
He does have progressive ideas and inclinations, but appears to have more of a working understanding of reality and logistics than some candidates. I don't see that as a bad thing. A great deal of Americans prefer moderate candidates with a more measured, careful, deliberate approach to politics.

I'd strongly consider voting for Beto if the primaries were to held today...which they're not, of course. 
Fact is, there's still much that remains to be seen from all the candidates and the campaign season itself.

So as it goes, I'm waiting for him announce and get in the game so I can see him in action. I'm quite interested in seeing how this guy performs on the national stage.

I think that he isn't going to be trusted by the base on a national level. As a congressman, he threw in with the New Dems.  I think that he threw in with the New Dems because they had dominated the party for 20 years and he saw them as the way the wind was blowing. The wind shifted and he started playing the progressive. He claims that he doesn't identify with any label on the spectrum, and claims that he thinks it's better to join no caucus, but perhaps he can't just scamper in to the progressive caucus because he knows how that will look. It would look like he blows around with the wind,

I don't think playing the independent is going to wash that New Dem smell off of him. Sherrod Brown is probably going to enter the race. He's the most conservative of the progressives, but he's been a rock steady progressive for his entire career. If Beto tries to run in a lane that is close to Sherrod's, Sherrod is going to win that contest.

If Sherrod were to win the nomination, I am certain that I would vote for him. If Beto won, I don't know if I can get past his New Dem smell.
