Am I the only one who feels this way

That is one heck of a first post. A little background would help.

Here is the good news, there is no heaven or hell to bribe or threaten you with. That isn't saying you can be lawless or violent, it just means this is the one life we get. You can still feel love and have empathy for others, you simply don't need to assign human behaviors to being the poker chips of a sky hero vs a ground troll.

My sympathies, but don't forget, you could change the word 'god' in your existing first statement and change it to 'the internet' and it would still make perfect sense.

LL, I think you're onto something here!

eg:

"I cannot take God being married anymore..feel like I'm walking on eggshells and I feel like I'm dealing with a judgmental and abusive entIty all the time.  I feel really isolated and I can't tell anyone what's going on... "

Sometimes I feel like God is real.  I look at my life and think: "This shit can't be chance.  Somebody is fucking with me!"

Job: Dafuq, dude?  What is your fucking problem!?!?
God: Just a friendly wager, Job. Carry on.

It gets worse
It gets worse...Ever since I started subscribing to Christianity, I feel as if I haven't been in the driver's seat in my own life.  I feel as if I am dealing with a being who is controlling, manipulative and makes me feel guilty about everything.

Turns out that the only time jesus takes the wheel, is when there's a car crash.  Wink

Welcome aboard, again. We try to limit what goes into intro threads. Maybe you should make a thread elsewhere and elaborate there?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Religion does that based on mythology and superstition. Real guilt is from evolutionary empathy, when you hurt someone you don't need an invisible being to tell you you've done something wrong. And you certainly don't need to be bribed or threatened to do good, and apologize for doing wrong.

Who was at the controls prior to you taking up Christianity. You were presumably so what happened that you felt the need to hand over control of your life to an unseen unevidenced entity?
It's amazing 'science' always seems to 'find' whatever it is funded for, and never the oppsite. Drich.

my complaints with Christianity:

- it's punitive nature
- misogyny/patriarchy surrounding women and gender issues
- hypocrisy
- the need to placate a God
- its rules and legalism
