My my.... What an insightful person you are. You know ALL about me - and by nothing more than the fact that I favor gun rights.
Of course I don't 'know all about you', just what you've said - that even though you carry a knife, you have a gun in your other pocket. This smacks of fear. If there were fewer crazies with guns roaming around, maybe you wouldn't be so fearful.
Quote:How exactly are you planning to shatter someone' s knee? Do you know how much force that takes? Have you ever broke someone' s knee - or had your' s broken?
It takes something less than 100 psi to disable the knee joint. Most people can punch or kick that hard. No, I've never broken someone's knee, but I have broken someone's femur, which takes considerably more force.
Quote:I have had mine broken. I know what' s involved. I seriously doubt I could break someone' s knee without a large hamner and a victim who was willing to stand still.
Sorry about your injury. Yes, you are likely strong enough to break someone's knee without a hammer.
Quote:I guess I' m not the badass you are.
It isn't so much badassery as not minding.
Quote:I' ll have to stick to guns
I find myself unsurprised.

Boru Well fortunately - you ain't the one deciding who can carry a gun. The state gave me my permit 17 years ago. I have carried a concealed pistol nearly every day since - and had zero problems. My neighbors, friends and family all know I carry - and don' t have a problem with it. They shouldn' t. - most of them have carry permits as well - and surprise, suprise - they haven' t had problems either. Many in law enforcement know I carry daily as well - and gee - they don' t have a problem with it and frequent my place to visit, show off their latest gun- or have me work on their stuff.
I' m a fucking cripple - but I' m gonna chase somebody down and break their legs..
Good to know. It' s a miracle.
Glad you told me.

Sorry, where did you get the idea that I have a problem with you (you, specifically) carrying a gun?

I'm not sure why you would chase someone who's running away from you.

Responsible gun owners who don't think they're John McLane or Harry Callahan are also not the issue. The issue is gun accessibility by people who shouldn't have access to guns.
I don't have a problem with gun ownership. I have a problem with some of the philosophies about gun ownership.

Made all the more apparent by the -rise- in gun crime, gun injury, and gun death in Stand Your Ground states. Nutball ideology would have us believe that this is a deterrant, and a needed deterrent. All evidence to the contrary.
If a person has legitimate reason to fear being shot (which, despite how our raw stats might look in a vacuum, we don't) then what they need are less guns and less people who want to use them and less laws that empower those nuts. Not more.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. Oh fuck off Boru....
You don' t want ANYONE to carry a gun.
I' m not playing your stupid game.
.....
I don' t fear the world. I recognize it' s dangerous potential and take precautions for my safety. Same reason I buy insurance. I don' t expect my house to burn down today - but I have fire extinguishers and insurance.
You do whatever you like.

Well, that's a bit rude.

Wrong again.
Quote:I' m not playing your stupid game.
Then I win by default, right?
Quote: I don' t fear the world.
Would you, under any circumstances, leave your gun at home while you went out for the day?
Quote:I recognize it' s dangerous potential and take precautions for my safety.
Do you understand that the overwhelming number of dangers you face every day cannot be avoided by carrying a gun?
Quote:Same reason I buy insurance. I don' t expect my house to burn down today - but I have fire extinguishers and insurance.
You're equating buying fire insurance to carrying a gun for personal protection? Got it.
Quote:You do whatever you like.
I generally do.

It's plainly apparent that the legitimate anti gun movement in the US is incompetent, leaving us in the drivers seat whether we decide to operate that vehicle like we have some sense or send it straight over a cliff full throttle.
The more unhinged exploited gun owners become the more likely I see gun ownership being fucked over for everyone. It won't actually be on account of the Damn Libs! that I can't enjoy my hobby anymore, they can't do anything right, it'll be the nutballs that do it in by doing everything wrong. As it stands, I have a right, and more than that it's my personal property and I'm not harming anyone nor am I a danger to anyone.
Go ahead, though, keep telling people that you have a homicide fetish. Bold strategy, couldn't possibly backfire. It's not as if, at some point in future where the country is full of nervous and frightened people pointing glocks at each other and swearing they'll use em......we might look around and say "gee, guys, maybe we -do- have a problem".
