Storing gun powder. That's what it has been used for on my gun, but I haven't read the specs yet to see if that was a kosher application. I've had them for about six hours now. I'll update if any better information is provided. (Boss Lady doesn't want me waving them around the house, so I'll dig into them when she goes to work tomorrow.)

Powder is kept in a horn or flask so it can be poured down the barrel.

How are you going to pour out of the buttstock into the barrel? It 'd be a good trick.

The buttstock compartment is for storing patches, lube and balls.

And you will note - he won' t address the mistake he made about powder storage.

He claims to have been a Chief Machinists Mate but rather than being in the machine spaces - he' s manning a machine gun- and he' s some expert on tactics, close in fighting and law enforcement -- and he' s a historian --- yet he thinks they store powder in a buttstock?
