I can’t seem to get the answer that question out of anyone.

It doesn't matter which word we choose whether it be the 'N' word, the 'C' word or the 'X' word.

dritch said, and I paraphrase, that it seemed to him that it was acceptable to insult a christard on this forum but not acceptable to use the N word and, if he (dritch) referred to anyone using the N word, they would feel insulted.  Hope that I have represented that accurately. If not, my sincere apologies.  

Boru the stated that this wasn't the case and said that he wouldn't feel insulted if anyone referred to him (Boru) as the N word.  

dritch then said that this was because Boru wasn't black.

Boru then posted and signed it N-word Boru.

I then referred to Boru as N-Word Boru.  Not to insult but to support.

I then posted and signed it Lemon Shirt Lifter Curry in support of Boru.

For me, this is about three things:

1.  We are all too bloody PC to the point where effective communication is impossible these days because we all fear being referred to as a racist or an X-ist.  Me, I couldn't give a tinker's cuss what people think of me.  I never have and I never will.  I care about what I think of me.  The rest of you, go to hell - unless you will get in my grave on my behalf so that I can have a few more years.  To you, I will listen for you have shown you care about me.

2.  It isn't the terms we use that's important, it's the intent.  Some people are too stupid to recognise the difference or even that there is a difference.  Well, I have no time for stupid people.

3.  People are all too quick off the mark to being offended on behalf of others.  To those I would say "fuck you."   And, if you are offended by that remark, as the great Stephen Fry once said, "so fucking what." 

You now have an answer.

I think there is a significant difference between saying the word and using the word.  As in my Mark Twain example above, I'm still unsure how saying the word in a context like that is in any way offensive.

But similarly, I don't see how using the word to refer to a person or group of people can be anything but offensive.

One Saturday, shortly after we moved to Cambridge, we went into the market in the centre to buy some strawberries.  Paid, turned around and almost fell over Stephen Hawking.  For the record, he was buying bananas - or rather his wife was for him.  OK, everyone has to be somewhere but meeting him in an outside market ?

A couple of years later, I bumped into Stephen Hawking again - in M&S in Cambridge.  It was the day before Valentine's day.  There I was, red roses in one hand and choccies in the other and there was Hawking with same coloured roses (dark red) and same choccies (Milk Tray) in his lap.  We both looked at each others pressies, smiled and went our merry ways.

i was saddened when he died.  Very saddened.

Some christards on a forum I used to frequent claimed that Hawking 'found god' before he died - lying fuckers.

I believe it is a crying shame in this day and time that people have to use such words not make a point or anything else. People have no respect for others anymore and it will be the down fall of humanity. there is no reason to use such words even within a race of people it shows a lack of intelligence and a level of disrespect that goes beyond understanding or should I say goes below the level of understanding. Grow-up people and act like you are civilized instead of like the apes you believe you came from.
