Which just goes to show that the majority of what you learn in school you don't actually need to use in real life or on the job.

Depends on your life or your job. I've used algebra, civics, history, and computer programming in real life and/or on the job. All of which I learnt in high school.

The music classes, not so much ... hmph.

The most useless course I was required to take at uni was the history of the English language. All I remember is that ofermode means exactly the same thing as 'hubris'. And I only remember it because we spent three days on that one fucking word.

Speaking of useless classes, I went to Catholic school and we had to take a course called 'Towards Marriage'.  Of course, it was taught by a priest.

Courses on marriage should only be taught by people with at LEAST three divorces.

Ah yes, this reminds me of my favorite book genre: books about marriage written by Catholic priests.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
