If we are going to be pedantic outside of TV we could say Rosa Parks and Susan B Anthony. But regardless, nobody fucks with Betty White.

What do Rosa Parks and Susan B. Anthony have to do with this? I was pointing out that there were plenty of female leads in American television before Mary Tyler Moore.
Ed Asner had a substantial career prior to his Lou Grant character.

Yes I am slow on the uptake. I just stumbled across a video compilation retrospective of all the notable people who have died in 2021. One of them was Tawny Kitaen. Best known for her role as the fiance the Tom Hanks character in the 1980s movie "Bachelor Party".
