Funnily enough, he was on very good terms with the Catholic Church. His art doesn't show it, but he always was very establishment. Not the rebel he seemed to be when he started out with his performances.

Gilley — cousin of rock ‘n’ roll pioneer  — opened Gilley’s, “the world’s largest honky tonk,” in Pasadena, Texas, in the early 1970s. By mid-decade, he was a successful club owner and had enjoyed his first commercial success with “Room Full of Roses.” He began turning out country hits regularly, including “Window Up Above,” “She’s Pulling Me Back Again” and the honky-tonk anthem “Don’t the Girls All Get Prettier at Closing Time.”

He reportedly died in his sleep in the Dominican Republic while filming "Dangerous Waters," according to his publicist. 
Best known for his role in the Martin Scorcese classic, "Goodfellas," Liotta starred in countless films over the years, including "Field of Dreams," "Blow," "Revolver" and "The Many Saints of Newark."
