Craig Morton, NFL quarterback who played for the Cowboys, Giants, and Broncos passed on May 9, 2026. A sad day for the NFL, but particularly for Broncos fans. He was our QB for our first taste of real success, winning the AFC by defeating both the Steelers and the Raiders, both heated rivals at the time, in that post-season. Though ultimately falling short, losing Superbowl XII to the Cowboys, that season was a true turning point for the franchise.

An unnamed 21-year-old woman died in Brazil today after workers at a bungee-jumping event threw her from a bridge without attaching her to the safety cord, causing her to fall about 130 feet (40 meters).
Witnesses told Military Police that workers appeared to have forgotten to attach the safety cord before she was pushed from the platform, according to g1. Video shared on social media showed workers carrying her to the platform before the fall, followed by people shouting about the rope.
Responding emergency crews pronounced her dead at the scene.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

The Major Oak, one of the UK's most iconic trees due to its vast age, size and links to the legend of Robin Hood, is believed by experts to have died.
The ancient oak is estimated to have lived in Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire for up to 1,200 years, and is considered one of Britain's biggest oak trees.
Conservationists worked to protect the tree, which attracted millions of visitors over its life, but in recent years the natural giant was in decline.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) - the conservation charity which manages the forest - added after the tree's first spring with no leaves this year, scientific experts said the Major Oak had died.
While it was difficult to determine the exact cause of the oak's demise, the RSPB said a combination of issues - including years of "well-intentioned structural intervention and huge amounts of human activity" around the tree - were thought to be "major contributors".
The charity said the effects of climate change - including recent heatwaves and droughts - had compounded challenges it would naturally be facing at its age.

The center of the tree was hollowed out by fungus. Legend has it that this was Robin Hood's hideout. I can't imagine it being big enough for a hideout.

Legend says it was a shelter, not a hideout. With a canopy of 92 feet, that’s doable. Unless I’m wrong, in which case I’ll admit it and move on.
