User is editing post indicator

Sometimes I see a post that is terribly munged, contains dupe information, etc,. Usually, I edit it and add a note, etc,.
However, I nearly mod-edited a post that was being revised in short succession by the same author (hi Chuck!). That could've been hairy.
Anywho, I wonder, how hard would it be to display a little icon in the post, like a pencil or traffic cone or something, that would indicate that it is being edited?

That sounds like a great idea. I have no idea how hard it would be to install something like that here, but I would not be averse to seeing it. Nice suggestion.

How about not editing others posts? 'Munged' (whateverthehell that means) or dupe info is the posters problem and you may inadvertantly change the meaning of what was trying to be conveyed by the author by attempting to correct grammer or info or whatever.
Fix broken links or fucked up quote boxes or the like, but leave the post alone no matter how "munged" it is.
What is 'munged' anyway? I'm guessing it means mangled?

Hmmm...a better alternative would be to "lock" posts that are being edited so that they cannot be edited by anyone else until the edit is complete. I'll see what I can do.
