"Good" & "Bad" Christians?

Like for instance on Lek here, do you think we'll see him as a best man on some gay wedding any time soon or do you think it's more likely he'll continue preaching how gay people are sinners/ evil?

How much can we influence anybody? Some people switch over, and I don't know why.

I do think that the "good Christians" have way more chance of converting the "bad Christians" than this forum does.

But thank you, by the way, for acknowledging the link I sent. I appreciate that.

I have two Facebook friends who are Christians and they post stuff like this almost every day.

Ok, so you established that good Christians preach against hateful rhetoric that bad Christians have, but do you think it has any effect on bad Christians? No, many Christians will still view homosexuality as wrong, just like divorce, affairs, sex before marriage, atheism, being non-Christian etc... but they'll likely not care one way or other about what political and legal privileges are afforded them. No more care about gay marriage as a legal right, than atheists being able to marry.

Homosexuality isn't unlikely to register for such believers since it's such a small population. If my daughter were gay, both I, my community, family would have to deal with in a more personal way, confront it, in some way we never had to before as a personal issue, and not some distance political one.

There are no good or bad Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists. ect ect ect. There are simply good and bad individuals whom falsely assign our behaviors to the claims of antiquity.

An argument could be made that bad christians easily meld with good ones while atheists, well, we are not bound by any dogma. Makes it easier to sniff out the bad ideologies amongst. The only thing atheist means is not belief in gods. There remains a whole reality to discuss, why would we have a forum, if it wasn't to discuss matters without gods to pray upon?

Maybe a topic for a thread itself. Later, going to the pool with my daughter.

Since Christianity is inherently immoral, it’s a negative for any assessment of a person overall. Thankfully, most people are better than their religion.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

It’s not as if we haven’t had this convo previously, Lek.

I won’t string up a Jew to cover my parking tickets. Not even if it worked, lol.

Substitutive sacrifice is immoral on the face of it.  I can pay your debts, but that doesn't absolve you of the moral obligation of the debt.  I can serve your prison sentence in your place, but that doesn't erase what you did.

Torturing and murdering a 1st century rabbi to absolve humanity of its sins is a difference of degree, not of kind.
