This is what life looks like when you think the Rambo movies are a documentary of your life as a master ninja...

You think up ridiculous, unlikely scenarios.

English much?

Um no, just the opposite. Too many idiots think "no record" at time of buy means that buyer wont get stupid after a legal buy.

I'm not sure there's an answer to that.  Issuing someone a driving license doesn't mean they won't try to kill someone with their car.  I'm not sure it's at all sensible to restrict gun purchases based on what you think someone may possibly do at some point in the future.

Go to your local gun shop.

Tell them you want to buy a gun " with no records".

Loudly insist you do it all the time - and insist they comply.

See what happens.

We will watch it on the news at 11....

It still amounts to an ease of access issue.

I mentioned it shortly after the El Paso shooting that a police official was asked by a reporter at a press conference what the public could do to spot a threat. He RIGHTFULLY SAID, "I am not a psychologist, that is not my field of expertise"...... I agree, so what the fuck makes the gun shop owner who sold him the weapon a psychologist when confronted said, "He looked fine to me, he looked happy."

It still amounts to it is fucking stupid and dangerous for firearm companies, and shop owners to say "OK" just to make a buck.

Again, firearm CEOs and shop owners would have far more credibility if they gave a fuck and cared where their products ended up.

Ok, so how is a gun shop owner supposed to KNOW how the guns he sells are going to be used?  If a person passes a background check and doesn't appear to be agitated when purchasing a weapon, on what grounds should the shop owner refuse the sale?

Holy shit, nobody is expecting a shop owner to read minds, that is precisely why they shouldn't simply say " no record"...

Did you not read what I just posted. The shop owner ASSUMED the guy who bought the weapon was ok because of no record. If it worked like that in reality "no record" would always mean the buyer after a legal buy would never go on to get violent.

The guy literally said "He looked fine to me"..... Obviously that was not the case.

"No record" at time of buy does not prevent the buyer from getting violent after a legal buy.

I agree they don't know what is in the mind of the buyer, which is why they should give a fuck and not simply say, "OK".

Otherwise why not let any Joe Shmo have a passenger Jet licence to fly merely because they have never crashed a plane.

If they are buying a gun - then they must think it's OK for them to own guns. If they think it's OK to own guns - they must be crazy. You can' t sell guns to crazy people.

So if they want to buy a gun - you can' t sell it to them!!

There - we finally decoded Brians plan to " quit giving guns out like candy".

Cool, huh?

I get what you're saying, but you aren't answering my question.  I'll try to re-phrase it.

A person wishes to purchase a firearm.  The shop owner checks and finds out that this person has no record, has never been in serious trouble with the law.  Furthermore, the purchaser doesn't seem agitated or upset.  Maybe he jokes and chats with the shop owner about the weather, or about the local sports franchise. The seller has no legal reason, no 'gut feeling', no evidence or intimation at all that the purchaser plans to go do-lally fucknuts and start mowing people down.

Based on that, why should the shop owner refuse to sell this person a gun?  What criteria would you have gun sellers use to deny a sale?

I got it..

"A person who wishes to purchase a firearm"

STOP RIGHT THERE......

I am tired of the bullshit sold by the firearm industry and the NRA that  it is a bad thing to say, "Who are you , and are you capable of handling a firearm and are you mentally stable" is a bad thing.

Again..... No airline would simply say, "Oh, you never crashed a passenger jet before, here is an instant pilot's licence on the spot because you have no record."

I am sick of the bullshit vilification that prevention is evil.

I want a microscope up the ass of anyone who is going to have me 40,000 feet in the air. Just like we vet our cops and military.

I am not saying we should never sell firearms, but damn it, we make too many and we hand them out like candy.

I suffer from anxiety and depression. I SHOULD NEVER OWN A FIREARM........... Just like I should never fly a passenger jet.

Again, I WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM  with firearm CEOs or shop owners if they gave a fuck, but they do not give a fuck.

BORU and to OLB, how many posts here have either of you said to me or yourselves "Brian37 is off his rocker".....

The problem with our current laws is that you would NOT be able to prevent me from buying a firearm. Our laws are Swiss Cheese.

There is literally NOTHING to prevent me, because I have no violent record from purchasing a firearm right now. So if neither you OLB if you owned a gun shop and are not willing to sell one to me, CONGRATS, both of you are more moral than our current standards.
