He dead.

I can't help but find that hilarious.

Even the police can't go there apparently.

If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.

Always good to respect and listen to the "other side."

Listen yes, respect, no. People earn respect, their existential beliefs gain respect when they can be supported by evidence.

Difficult to do, but apparently he did it.

This is one of my main motivations in having these kinds of discussions, to learn new things, and to correct or eliminate faulty beliefs.

Unlike most theists, I really care if my beliefs are true, or likely to be true. To that end, I base my beliefs on the best tools known to discern fact from fantasy.

The discomfort from initial ego-defense mechanism that kicks in when proven wrong, is worth the satisfaction gained from eliminating a false belief from my world view.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

God must love those Christians more who can still be saved by heathen savages.

I think most theists think they have plenty of evidence, they don't even think about it.

Once you are in the mindset that a god made everything, then everything is evidence, and also the reason why they have to have excuses for evil etc, in which of course they end up making man the reason for things they don't like, which of course is perfectly compatible with atheism !!

But when asked 'why do you believe there is a god persay, they then have to face reality in a different way

To people who don't really care for evidence, anything can be evidence.

You only care about what constitute valid evidence if you really want to go where evidence leads.    If you in your arrogance already decided where you want to be, anything can be made to seem like a evidentiary road sign pointing to it.

Sure, it is-as a starting point. Once they've spoken and you've listened, then it's okay to say "Fuck those dumbasses."

I would say most Christians don't even question what exactly it is that they believe, let alone whether or not there's evidence for what they believe.
