What are our chances of survival for a long time?
October 10, 2019 at 12:56 am
I have always thought that humanity is destined to go extinct because no matter how much our technology advances, an unforeseen catastrophe will wipe us all. But I have started to think if there is any chance we may survive for not thousand, but millions of years?
What if we create colonies throughout the universe to secure our existence? What if we encounter other intelligent life that help us create an environment of cooperation? Perhaps even an intergalactic hub with multiple intelligence species!!!!!
What do you think? Are we doomed? Or is there hope?

I don't think we'll even get to stage 2.

I think the odds are against us, but there's some hope. I would certainly love to have a way to see how it all turns out.

Millions of years from now another species will dig some of us up and be amazed at how successful the monkeys were. Up to a point, then..............

At work.
Happy to buck the trending doom.
So.... even before 'Civilization' clotted people together humans had managed to establish themselves effectivly from @rse-hole to breakfast across the planet in pretty much every ecological niche.
Now, with our build up of skills and knowledge, we're pushing those niches to places not even on the planet.
As Agent Smith opines in ths original Matrix.
"Humanity is like a plague. A disease that spreads to encompass everything..... "
If Musk gets 10K people and the infrastructure established on Mars and/or the Saturnian moons etc within the next couple of decades or so then the changes to our current lifestyles and practices will effectivly change beyond what we currently understand.
Though..... I'm pretty sure it won't stop people from throwing things at each other.....
Cheers.

Every species of Homo before HSS is gone, so we are likely to follow.
