Nobel Peace Prize

A seriously good choice. I can't imagine this one will be controversial.

He's freed political prisoners, gave up disputed land to end the war with Eritrea, got Kenya and Somalia to agree to mediation, help negotiate the process that could move Sudan to civilian rule, and has pretty much ended the authoritarianism that plagued Ethiopia for 40 years.
Abiy Ahmed is a peacemaker in the best sense of the word.

I never have and probably never will give a fuck about the nobel peace prize. I'm not interested in the politics of the elite or participating in their circle jerks.

Are you at all interested in people in positions of power who put forth a serious effort to make things better rather than worse, or (worse yet) preserving the status quo?

Boru Eh, I suppose. Regardless, what does that have to do with the Nobel? It's not like only rich philanthropists get the award; plenty of undeserving people have received the "prize."

Picking Abiy Ahmed was very controversial in Egypt; since the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam is rumored to cause shortages to Egypt's Nile share:

But Abiy Ahmed deserves this Noble as it seems from his reputation; and Egypt's Sisi can rot.

Pardon me for not giving a steam-powered shag over what upsets Egypt. The dam isn't going to impact Egypt's water supply.

The Egyptian military regime under Sisi are well known for spreading lies to protect their place in power and to direct the attention of the public from another revolt like the 2011 revolution that took down the previous military dictator; Mubarak. Caring about the feelings of such monsters that butchered Thousands is a very bad move.

Nope. It's pretty clear and concise, actually.

Here's what I don't understand.
You asked what the Nobel Peace Prize has to do with making the world better. How can you not know this?
You said, 'It's not like only rich philanthropists get the award', when that's almost never the case.
You followed the above with, 'plenty of underserving people have received the "prize" '. While I don't disagree with this, it doesn't seem to follow from the previous clause. Are you saying that when a rich philanthropist wins the prize, it is automatically deserved?
I'm also unsure why you put the word prize in inverted commas. Is it that you don't think it qualifies as a prize, or did you mean something else?
