@Tiberius Get on this, man.

Hmm, I'm not sure if patreon is private, as in whether Tibs can see who donates. If not, maybe a PayPal? That would only have your email.

I do appreciate this, you guys. I know Tibs has been absent and pretty disinterested, but I still like it. I don't like it enough to take over, but I like it enough to be happy that you all are stepping up. If we get close enough to monthly donations to cover the costs enough to keep Tibs happy, I'll consider the remainder my donations. Either way, I'll pitch in to support the forum if it stays afloat.

Oh man. I hardly ever have time to check the forum anymore let alone post. But I still feel like my heart would break if the place shut down. I’m only currently donating $1 per month but I could do more.

FWIW

It's testament to @Tiberius ability and thoughtful work that AF is as reliable as it has been. Likewise, it's a testament to it's active members that it's able to be run with light moderation. I'd not like to see it go - this is one of those special places that hasn't been monetized or completely overrun with shit.

Whatever direction things go, I'm willing to keep doing what I can with time and money to help keep it afloat.

Gave it a little more thought, and determined that it actually isn't worth it to me make any further donations to AF. There are other communities that I too, feel less ambivalent about, enjoy and/or frequent more.
It appears that the forum might be on it's way to generating enough funds to extend it's shelf-life anyhow, so yadda, yadda, yadda...good luck and all.

With respect to solvency, I've matched all of the current Patreon monthly contributions plus $5.00. I don't post much of consequence these days, but I do lurk, and I see the value in keeping our corner of the Internet open

One forum I was on ended and all the members started posting all kinds of crazy shit on the last night it was running in a kind of end of the world type party. It actually a pretty cool send off.

RE: Future of the Forums (Discussion)
I heard about this from some other members I keep in touch with and figured I'd come take a look. Even though I havent been very active on this (or any) forum in the past year, I always had it in the back of my mind that I could become more active again if I ever felt compelled to. This makes me a little sad, because there are some people here who I like but who dont have a Facebook or anything, so I'd lose any sort of touch with them. I hope you're able to sell it, Tibs. But if not, as others have said, it had a good run of 11 years. Definitely a success.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I am very thankful for this website. But as with anything in life, you can only appreciate the time you have, and life changes.

I wish both Tibs and Shell all the best.
