The financials were the main pain point for me (paying for something I have little interest in). As I alluded to earlier, the server administering is largely automated. In fact the server was up for almost 2 years until I restarted it the other night (which, having identified the actual issue, wasn't even necessary). Provided the staff team are happy to keep doing the work they do, and the community is fine having a mostly absent "head" admin who simply performs maintenance / upgrades from time to time, I'm happy to continue in that limited role.
I'm still relatively active on our Slack channel, so it's not like people won't be able to reach me if I am needed for something.
I stand happy now. I will patreon next month, I have exhausted my funds in the remodelling (Sofia needed a better room and ghe roof needed a rework due to storms) . All payed for and i give you my word more 10 euros a month is coming. Right now, I am quitting smoking. I might donate and still come out with a profit from that.

Turns out convincing my husband that a monthly donation to an atheist website is an acceptable use of his funds is proving harder than I had anticipated. I’ll keep working on him. 🤨

Hey LP, it's been a long time, I hope you're well and I hope you can indeed quit; I'm now coming up on sixteen months nicotine free and it was the best thing I ever did and I haven't looked back since. If you're a die hard smoker like I was, I'd really recommend the drug I used... Champix... or whatever the Portuguese equivalent is if different... it made it about as painless as it could possibly be even for someone who noone, least of all me, thought would be able to achieve it let alone stick with it... it's a true wonderdrug in my opinion, and means that everyone, no matter how entrenched, has a chance at quitting smoking if they want. But I'm not preaching, just enthusiastic about it, because ultimately I know that noone can quit until it's their time... but just putting this out there in case it might be of interest to you sometime down the line if not now

How about we put the forum on our Xmas list? I'd be in for a month of server money.

I can't make monthly payments on some sort of auto-pay, so if I could make a lump sum donation through an intermediary, I could manage that. Just don't spend it all in one place. I will note that the last time I made an online donation to a forum, one of the moderators took the money and made all kinds of excuses about the money disappearing. Once bitten...and not saying that it would happen here, btw.

That's very unfortunate. Sucks that someone burned you that way.
The money that comes in here goes straight to server costs, domain, etc. We're well off enough financially that $40+ isn't tempting.
