Is eating hunted meat ethical?
RE: Is eating hunted meat ethical?
Excuses for what?

Veganism is helping other people. Helping them to not starve.

It's helping you to not starve, that's pretty much as far as that goes. I don't have the patience to do this twice in a week, lol. It's not a big deal, you'll still be a vegan after you look it up, but that's about as wrong as you can get it. I suppose it would be a nicer world if it were true.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. You should probably look somewhere other than PETA. They're not exactly known for truth in advertising - but that's not really their goal, so it's hard to hold it against them, lol.

Like I said, it'd be cool if it were true, but it isn't. There's plenty of food to go around, it just doesn't. It doesn't matter what kind of food is going around, in so much as it is, because it moves based on consumer demand and the profitability of markets, not hunger. If we stopped eating meat, people would stop producing it, and they wouldn't need feed. When they don't need feed, those growers just stop growing that, too.

No extra people fed, just a bunch of people who feel good enough about their consumer choices to ignore the issue even more than it already is.

Do you have any studies to show this? That even if we were all vegan it wouldn't mean that every wouldn't starve? That there'd still be starving people.

The same people would starve, though whomever depended on livestock production would be added to that list. That's the world we live in.

What's wrong with the PETA defense?

How do you know this? I'm not saying it's not true.

Sorry man, don't know what to tell you. You can drop links until the end of days and it won't be any more true or any less false than it was the first time you heard it.

I think the grand irony, in this one, is that hunger is driven by the same consumer trends and purchasing disparity that makes veganism a profitable niche for producers in specific markets. I've got a nice life on account of vegan customers, but none of that money or food went to some starving nigerian. That's not how that works.

Isn't gonna make you run out and buy a steak though, huh. It's one of those things that people believe, that doesn't matter.

I get pissed with the idiots who go vegan and then try to make their pets vegan as well. Like the couple in Melbourne who nearly killed their cat with a vegan diet.

I’ve also wondered why vegans go for vegan “steaks” and other meat “substitutes”. There’s already a product that tastes, smells, and has the texture of meat. It’s called “meat”.

Personally if I hated vegetables I’d hardly want to eat carrots or spuds made out of processed meat products.
