Sorry guys its a theory just like creation...you either believe it or choose not to believe it. Still takes faith.

It’s a theory (scientific in nature) with a lot of suporting evidence. No faith required, the evidence has been published in peer reviewed journals for all to see.

“Creation” is a claim with no supporting evidence.

And you didn’t answer my question.

See you do have some certainty in your life. You believe in something with “a lot of supporting evidence”. Thats good, it may be true or it may be false...One thing is evidenced...You have faith in something. You can no longer call yourself unfaithful.

I for your question I think the obvious answer is SELF-EVIDENT.

Says a lot without saying anything.

Typical creationist.

Empty words, empty mind.

THAT IS SELF EVIDENT

And that is a mistake on your part. Belief is only warranted when actual evidence warrants belief. There is a ton of evidence for evolution such that it warrants acceptance.

There is no evidence at all for any of the thousands of claimed deities throughout human history. None. Thus belief is not warranted.

Ha! Unbelievable!

I predicted it on the post #57.

Quote:Sorry guys its a theory just like creation.

Sorry to inform you, but the term "theory" in the realm of science is a LOT different than the way the term is used colloquially.

In science, a theory, is a model that best explains all the observed evidence. It is not something scientists just pull out of their ass. Theories in science, among other things, have to be able to be falsified. In other words, part of the theory has to contain the type of facts that would prove it wrong. For example: if a rabbit fossil was discovered in the Cambrian layer, this would falsify evolution.

What would falsify the 'theory' (cough, cough...) of creationism?

Evolution is backed by mountains of evidence in many scientific fields of study. It requires no faith to believe. Creationism, is at best, a hypothesis. And that's being generous.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

1.Nope it's scientific fact

2. A theory in science is the highest standard something can achieve .

3. It didn't need to be witnessed to have clear evidence it happened

4. Nope it doesn't take any faith to except reality

5.You can choose to deny it .But it remains true anyway

Quote:Except Hendix! Don’t say Im not teachable.
Well by all means show us one .

Quote:See you do have some certainty in your life.
Your confusing certainty with justified confidence

Nope weather it's true or false is a different question to epistemic justification.

Good luck backing that up

I think you're using 'faith' in two different contexts.

In one sense, 'faith' can be defined as a reasonable expectation or belief based on prior experience.  In the religious sense, it is more accurately defined as belief based on no experience.  You can't have a reasonable expectation of the Resurrection or heaven or hell, because you have no experience these things.

Virtually every time I'm flicked a light switch from OFF to ON, the relevant bulb emits light. Thus, I have a reasonable expectation that this is what's going to happen then next time I flick that switch.  If you want to call this expectation a kind of faith, I shan't argue it.

What has never, ever not once happened is that turning the switch causes stewed cabbage to spew out of the light fixture.  Now, if I were a member of the ElectroStewed Brassica Sect, I might have faith that this would happen.  But this is an expectation NOT based on experience.  In otherwords, an unreasonable one.

*should we expect the 'it's only a theory' canard from this poster?

You called it.

It's amazing 'science' always seems to 'find' whatever it is funded for, and never the oppsite. Drich.

Ghosts, ghouls, spirits, souls, gods, heaven, hell, etc. fall under the supernatural umbrella term.

Anything that is possible to ascertain as existing I consider natural. Be it material existence or proof of concepts (mathematics, et. al.).

So you are a billion years old and observed evolution?

The mechanism at work can be observed in the Lab over the period of a few years and is understood theoretically. In the long term, you can observe evolution after the fact through the fossil record and genetics.
