If we engaged in regenerative agriculture and site appropriate residential construction.....we wouldn't need to resort to nuclear in the first place. Just food for thought, as we wring our hands over which of our many horrible sources of energy we should focus on next, lol.

There are no operating reactors in East Germany, and they cannot be reactivated.

There's still too many of the VVERs and RBMKs operating across the former Warsaw Pact...

I'm not disagreeing about old VVERs, but the current VVER 1200 and TOI seem to be up to current western standarts, no?

The reactors in Europe are of the VVER 440 and VVER 1000 type. (Gen II and Gen III)
The Finnish modifications seem to have improved things, though I'd be a lot happier if these were demolished.
There seems to be a lot of arguments between Brussels and the governments operating them which doesn't fill me with confidence.

Originally, though I think that was one of the things altered by the Finns.
Two more sites;
Mocove Slovakia, VVER, 2016 one Level 1 event
Temelin Czech Rep. VVER, trying to decypher the events and I hope the number is wrong...
edit: 2007-2009 thirteen Level 1 events, 2018 one Level 1 event. Boy, do CEZ try to bury the safety report...

It seems the EU has been closing the old Soviet plants, though the respective governments chose to delay closures till the EU had increased payments.
Lithuania (RBMK) agreed to close 1998, actually closed 2009.
Bulgaria (VVER 440) agreed to close 1998, actually closed 2006.
Hungary (VVER 440) Still operating, suffered two Level 1 events 2005 & 2012, Level 2 event 2009, Level 3 event 2003 - 'potential criticality event'.
Czech Rep. (VVER 440) Intends to continue operation till 2035.
Slovakia (VVER 440) 2 decommissioned, 4 still operating and 2 under construction. Yep they're actually building more of these things...
