A simple 'yes' or 'no' will suffice.

Lovely visual, but did you offer to pay Mustafa's fine for him?

Boru, you should sign all of your posts with "Contrarian" and not "Boru".

Actually I did ask him how much it was but he declined to say and wasn't really mad at me at all.  This was more like a Homer Simpson "DOH" to both of us.

He only got a ticket, I damned near got myself killed and my van went out into a busy, one lane each way street.

Mustafa is so broken up  about this. His life is over. I mean, how horrible is it to get a ticket?  I agree, with all the murder and rape and war going on, humans should be concerned about a mere traffic violation.

Regarding your repeated used of the word 'contrarian':

Regarding Mustafa's ticket for answering his phone:

The correct answer is, 'Of course I didn't offer to pay his ticket. Why should I?  All I did was place the call - he was under no obligation to answer.  He's my friend and I think well of him, but if he's old enough to drive, he's old enough to be aware of the rules.  He could have pulled over to answer or could have let it go to voice mail. I'm sorry he got a ticket, but it's his responsibility, not mine.'

Glad to be of help.

I got what you said, I was just curious as to how you reacted.

Your reading comprehension sucks.

I said the cop gave me a breathalyzer. I hadn't had a drop of alcohol that day. I simply made the mistake of focusing on the ashes being blown into my eyes, which is painful, and stupidly forgot my van was in reverse.

But if I were a cop, and someone I didn't know or never met, described what I findly did to him when he showed up, I would rightfully cover my ass and make sure the person reporting was not under the influence. THAT is what he rightfully did.

He was doing his job. I hadn't had a drop in days. I simply lost focus in the moment. When the test blew nothing, he accepted I simply got stupid.

lol, I wasn't referring to your incident with the van.  I was talking about your 'Captain Morgan' reference.

Ok, fine.

Even I can admit when I am wrong.

But damn it, for the love of Thor/Marduke/Posiedon/Yoda, do you always have to respond to my posts as if I kick puppies?

My point is that you were stating the obvious. And after I said both of us where laughing at the timing, not placing blame.

I swear, if I say Chevy, your response is going to be Ford. If I say up, you say down.

When I say I feel bad about him getting the ticket, it isn't a matter of my fault, but just a matter of bad timing. Shit happens. If he were truly mad at me he'd never talk to me again. Again, for both of us this merely was a Homer Simpsons, or Three Stooges moment. In our case Two Stooges.

But I will razz him about this too. Mo likes to remind me about how evil white Americans are, so I cant let this go. Next time I try to call him I will ask him if the cops are watching him.

I have found that I don’t actually have to look at my phone to have a hands free conversation on it while driving. It sits in a holder mounted to the windshield and I can answer it by touching a button next to my thumb on the steering wheel. I am more likely to take my eyes off the road when speaking to a passenger in my car than when using the phone.
