Actually it is important, if we are going to mitigate or stop similar pandemics, which could happen at any time. The scientists do want to know the origin. Reading more about the WHO report, "lab leak" would require a full-scale coverup. It is possible, but not likely.

Maybe I didn't make that point clear. Escape from a lab has happened prior to covid-19.
