Germany has just announced a mandatory nationwide lockdown of the unvaccinated, and (potentially) mandatory vaccinations beginning in February.

To my knowledge a general lockdown for unvaccinated was never discussed. Unvaccinated however wont have access to small shops, restaurants, etc., aka lots of public life. They are however NOT forced to stay at home (tho there is not much reason to leave home now   )

Mandatory vaccinations: possible, but probable.....? Supreme court at least has (yesterday) confirmed that all actions by Merkels government in the past year, as well as the new law passed by parliament are and were constitutional.
Mandatory vaccinations will possibly be not necessary, since the current pressure applied makes many unvaccinated Germans get vaccinated. Yesterday 1mio doses were applied (Germany has 80mio people).

Mhm, maybe there is a misunderstanding. To me lockdown equals forcing people to stay at home. But yeah, unvaccinated are going to be excluded from most of public life, that is true.

Thats whats going on here, and the reaction is for many to get vaccinated immediately. Shows clearly how dear their anti-vaxxer conviction is to them. For them its worth less than one or a couple of PCR tests. *eyeroll*

Apparently some people are worried about the correct way to pronounce "'Omnicron".

I'm not fussed. I know by now to ignore the way some pill in the US says a word should be pronounced. I remain  confident that some Oxford don will tell us the right way, as usual. The Americans will ignore him, as usual.

One local news guy, who is a midwesterner reading news in the northwest corner of the American south, said, last night, "ahm-ee-cron."  I did not take his mispronunciation to mean all fuckwits from Kansas are ignorant of the Greek alphabet.  I know at least two educated people from Kansas.  

Dad used to tell me there's a fool on every corner of every street in every town.  I took that to mean don't linger on street corners.  But I get it now.

So for a while, Ron DeSantis (do nothing DeSantis ) has been boasting that his state has seen a decrease in covid cases (despite still being amount the highest in the US) and that this somehow proves that his anti-science beliefs about covid. In reality, this moron doesn't get that spikes tamper off eventually and that his state was a killing field for months. So his boasts are as empty as his head.

Well, the new variant is here in the state, apparently resistant to vaccines.

M'kay, I'm confused again.

I received AstraZeneca. There were  two shots, ten weeks apart.  I had the second one in July. There have been no government announcements here about the need for a booster .

Check the CDC guidelines. The booster shot is recommended.

I had my two Pfiezer shots back in April/May, and it's now recommended to get the booster six months after those vaccine shots.
