Official live update of spread of COVID19
RE: Official live update of spread of COVID19

Great planning and execution on someone's part.

We got ours, but only two. Went to the pharmacy and picked up an additional 4 for $1 each.

Several long COVID symptoms could be linked to the effects of the coronavirus on a vital central nerve, according to new research being released this spring.

The vagus nerve, which runs from the brain into the body, connects to the heart, lungs, intestines, and several muscles involved with swallowing. It plays a role in several body functions that control heart rate, speech, the gag reflex, sweating, and digestion.

Those with long COVID and vagus nerve problems could face long-term issues with their voice, a hard time swallowing, dizziness, a high heart rate, low blood pressure, and diarrhea, the study authors found.

Their findings will be presented at the 2022 European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases in late April.

Was sick for two months with what apparently was a virulent strand of the flu. Got tested, but it wasn't C-19. Guess it's time to start getting the flu shot each year.

In a case series at two Boston medical centers, researchers assessed the strength and endurance of SARS-CoV-2 antibody response in newborns whose mothers were either vaccinated against COVID-19 (77 women) or infected with SARS-CoV-2 (12 women) between 20 and 32 weeks' gestation. (Transplacental antibody transfer is thought to be highest during this time period.) Anti-spike SARS-CoV-2 antibody levels were measured in cord blood at delivery and again in infants at 6 months.

Antibody titers in cord blood were significantly higher for vaccinated mothers than for mothers infected with SARS-CoV-2. More infants had detectable antibody titers at 6 months in the maternal-vaccination group (57%) than in the maternal-infection group (8%).

Welcome back...yes, get that flu shot. It doesn't suck as much as getting the flu.

I was going to start trolling the obits for your area. Not the first person I've done that for. Welcome back!

Things are still bad if the National Guard has to send in medical troops to help staff hospitals.

Oral famotidine versus placebo in non-hospitalised patients with COVID-19: a randomised, double-blind, data-intense, phase 2 clinical trial

https://gut.bmj.com/content/early/2022/0...022-326952

Of 55 patients in the intention-to-treat group (median age 35 years (IQR: 20); 35 women (64%); 18 African American (33%); 14 Hispanic (26%)), 52 (95%) completed the trial, submitting 1358 electronic symptom surveys. Time to symptom resolution was not statistically improved (p=0.4). Rate of symptom resolution was improved for patients taking famotidine (p<0.0001). Estimated 50% reduction of overall baseline symptom scores were achieved at 8.2 days (95% CI: 7 to 9.8 days) for famotidine and 11.4 days (95% CI: 10.3 to 12.6 days) for placebo treated patients. Differences were independent of patient sex, race or ethnicity. Five self-limiting adverse events occurred (famotidine, n=2 (40%); placebo, n=3 (60%)). On day 7, fewer patients on famotidine had detectable interferon alpha plasma levels (p=0.04). Plasma immunoglobulin type G levels to SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid core protein were similar between both arms.
