Questions for people who know more about this than I do (i.e. everyone):
I just read that the US Federal Reserve is going to pump 1.5 TRILLION dollars into financial markets to get people to calm the fuck down. Is this real money, or some sort of jiggery-pokery with balance sheets?
If it’s real, actual cash, what happened to the we-can’t-afford it argument when it comes to spending on things like healthcare and public assistance?
If it’s simply accounting magic, how is it going to actually help?
Please keep your answers short and use small words. Pretend I’m Trump.

Money fixes everything. Donald doesn't know what else to do so he is going to move money around to make it look like he's doing something helpful.
Whatever he does will be as big a help as the $300.00 Bush had sent out to people in 2001.

It is real money, but it won't do any good.
The Federal Reserve keeps a stash out of circulation to keep the value of the dollar high.
By releasing this they're risking inflation and weakening the currency.

I just got two emails from pet supply companies explaining Covid19, the steps they are taking in their stores to decrease the spread of the virus, tips to stay healthy, and the reminder that they do ship items from their online stores.
The emails are more clear than anything I have heard out of the government.
That's messed up.

I don't know the answer but I can say if the goal is to rapidly destroy wealth, the announcements are working great.

I wake up every morning shocked that I am still well...Lol.
Fun fact: every so often, I come down with some respiratory thing. Also, once a year or so, American Science and Surplus has a sale at their warehouses. A couple years ago, I found a big set of surgical masks. I bought them. I've only needed to use them a few times. That said, the consensus seems to be that they're only necessary for people who are already sick and caretakers. It turns out they're not all that effective for protecting the healthy.

Which I said 65 posts ago. Nice to have a source, though.

Okay, it turns out I got a message from my college. Spring break was set to be next week. Now, it's next week and the week after that, and there's going to be four weeks' where we'll have to do classes online.
Also, it's getting bad enough that Disneyland's closing.
And Tom Hanks has it.
And the president is using it to fuck with freedom to travel from majority-white countries.

My granddaughter has been on spring break this week. The school district just called off school for next week too. Apparently others schools in the Metroplex are doing the same.
And I don't have to go to jury duty Monday - not sure if I will share that news at work or just enjoy a day off. Decisions, decisions...

There's our problem.
We have money and we have currency. Once upon a time and throughout 99% of history, they were one and the same.
But since 71, when the French battleships were in America demanding their gold back, the only thing the US govt could do to avoid a war and not default on their
loan to the French was for Nixon to decouple the "currency" from the gold backing which allowed them to "print" any amount of US dollars needed.
All fiat currencies default back to their intrinsic value ...namely nothing. (through inflation and devaluation).
What is considered "real money" is something which is a store of value in and of itself, ie: must have rarity value and no counterparty risk.
They are precious metals, land and other natural resources only.
If something can be printed into existence then it is ultimately worthless in the end when the shit hits the fan, like now!
All fiat currencies today have lost most of their buying power by overprinting. It's one giant ponzi scheme which is collapsing in front of our eyes.
Guys make sure you have some "real" money put aside. That rainy day is here and it's turning into a shitstorm.
No God, No fear.
Know God, Know fear.
