Ok, apparently the US has something called ‘Medicaid’, which is intended to help the poor and uninsured get access to healthcare. This programme has billions and billion and billions of dollars available.
I just read that the Trump administration is refusing to relax the rules so that the poor and uninsured could use Medicaid to get tested and treated for Coronavirus.
WHY?? It’s almost as if Trump is putting forth his best effort to fuck this up as badly as he possibly can.

Republicans absolutely hate Medicaid and have been working to reduce or remove it for a long time.
I know that it does need some reworking as it's not handled well. Years ago I worked as a bookkeeper at a county level mental health care clinic. There were two people on staff whose sole mission was to get people approved for Medicaid. They weren't trying to make sure the people who needed it most were getting it...just getting people approved no matter what. The clinic made a ton of money off Medicaid patients...much more than a patient with private insurance or a cash patient.
Medicaid fraud is problem in this country.
I think it a great thing and very much needed by a segment of the population but it needs to be run much better than it is.
I wasn’t debating the merits of the system (I don’t know enough about it to do that). It just strikes me as monumentally stupid to not use money already earmarked for healthcare to help deal with a healthcare crisis.
It’s as if you have a Build-a-Bridge account and you refuse to use the money to build a bridge

Because they are being assholes. The chump has already stated on live TV that if he wins the presidency this year, he will go too work on taking the money from Medicare and Social Security- despite the fact that the people using Social Security paid into it. I paid into it for 45 years, and I expect to collect on it. My Medicare is partially paid for by Social Security. I wonder if his base is stupid enough to let him pull those rugs out from under them with impunity.

New development with the Coronavirus that's actually affecting my life: my local library is closing starting tomorrow until March 30. This might be a minor blip in many people's lives. For me, it's a big linchpin in my weekly routine. So, after I confirmed it will be open for the rest of the day (and that, since Dad's back was acting up, we wouldn't go to the restorative yoga class we usually go to), I stopped by home after work, picked up my DVDs and decided to go to the library and stock up on DVDs for the next few weeks. And I even managed to get the next two weeks' entries in the Deep Hurting Project: The Legend of Kung Fu Rabbit and Movie 43.

I saw this at a local supermarket. A pregnant woman wanted disinfectant gel, those little dispenser bottles, but the shelves were empty, so she asked a guy working there in repositioning the shelves, if they had more, he said "yes ma'am, I was just going to grab a palet to reposition that and other products, if you can wait a while, I will do so". OFC she said yes and he went to do what he does. One minute or so after, he brings the reposition products that amongst many others had a box of 24 of those dispensers but, the employee was called by another that asked him for help with something I couldn't overhear, the woman sat there patiently waiting for him to return and open the box. I beholded an old man come in and grab the WHOLE box and put it in his cart.... The woman said "I just want one" to witch that piece of shit said "Go ask the employees to get more, this is mine!". That is where I came in in my usual approach and said "put that back in the reposition palet, "filho de uma puta", you can die right away but this woman carries new life!"....
That old fuckface said if he had his hunting gun I wasn't standing there disrespecting him. I called the employees and demanded the national guards to come over. they put him straight and he was identified on civil disobedience. I was too as a withness to the process he is getting. I am glad I had anger management with my therapist, 10 years ago he would have my left hand so far up his arse his grandchildren would feel it.
It is in these situations we get proof of human nature and how powerfull fear and ignorance is.

I have received emails from companies I forgot I had ever dealt with advising me on precautions they are taking and precautions I should be taking.
I'm a little afraid to open my old email address for fear of exploding the Interwebz.
