So Disney is opening its parks but not their corporate offices. That tells you everything you need to know about their values.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

It’s weird, it’s almost like huge corporations care far more about the bottom line than the public who’s actually supposed to be supplying their revenue.

Dunno why people are still fretting over this pandemic. It’s over, right?
Right?

Is that supposed to be a joke? I have friends on FB that think this never WAS a problem, totally ignoring the numbers so your post, without any clue as to tone, appears to be, either foolhardy or tongue-in-cheek. I really don't know.
The straight answer is NOPE not in Oregon, where I live, it is the worst it has ever been by raw numbers. There is much more apparent mask wearing and the rules are clearly stricter so I can hope that it is mainly reckless religious people and protesters who are represented in the numbers and not rule following people like me and my wife.

Oh, come now. I keep reading how Trump and his various lapdogs are constantly saying that it’s not that bad, that they’ve got a handle on it, and that the curve has been flattened.

It is some crazy shit here in the states. Many people are making it a political thing and ignoring it or outright defying logic and meeting in large groups saying weird shit like they are covered in the blood of Jesus! That sounds sticky not to mention not enough of a barrier to an airborne pathogen! Think of how crusty your clothes would be after that shit dried!

Fun fact: a couple weeks ago, Trump invited the President of Poland to the White House and said of the visit that "This is the first after Covid, after the start of the plague, as I call it, and it's an honor to have you here.” While it’s possible that he only meant “after covid” to mean that it’s the first since the start of the pandemic, given Trump’s recklessness surrounding the pandemic, it’s possible that he thinks that it really is over.

We went to a stone supply place last week, to get some pea gravel for our parkway, finishing the landscaping. We wore masks, but none of the employees were. We went yesterday to get some flagstone for stepping stones. There was a sign on the door, I shit you not, that said, "Somebody turned us in for not wearing masks, so now everyone who comes in has to have a mask". Bold, all caps. "Turned us in". My wife and I discussed that, and that they possibly think that it was us. We don't give a damn, and the next time we need some hardscaping materials, we won't be buying it there.

Getting tested again at work since it’s now mandatory to be tested every two weeks. Had two consecutive negative results so far.
