Had my third test this morning at work. The medical field has progressed from blood samples and nose swabs to mouth swabs. Will have the results sooner.

I'm torn between being afraid of how dangerous this virus is and admiring how effectively it's killing off right-wing idiots who refuse to protect themselves because they decided basic safety measures are just left-wing tyranny.
And looking at that snapshot of the hotel, I'm reminded of how I planned to go up to Door County this week, but because (according to a friend of my Dad's there) not only are the streets more packed than usual, despite most of the attractions being inoperative, and not only am I getting a sore throat that's moved up to laryngitis, but many of the people going there are anti-maskers, we've chosen to postpone it to a time when I'm less likely to witness something like this:

We can't allow ourselves to think that way. Ethics of deriving joy from the death of others aside, "right-wing idiots" are spreading it to others, not just dying themselves. Defeating the virus requires a degree of collectivism. That means we have to be concerned when anyone gets and spreads COVID-19, even folks we think deserve it.
I'm genuinely concerned I'm not going to survive this thing, or at the least, I will lose my transplanted kidney or get lung damage. Even once we have a vaccine, you bet all those anti-mask folks will be anti-vax too.

A noble and accurate argument. That said, frankly, if the right’s reaction to a huge pandemic is to downplay the danger, and treat it as just another battle in the culture war and not back down as we become the epicenter of the virus, I fear it’s asking too much to expect that we can actually GET that bipartisanship we need to defeat the virus.

But how is it possible that the president who is so concerned about people getting sick and cancers from windmills is not concerned about this?
And what about Barron Trump? Will science stand in his way in returning to school? Or will his parents protect him just in case COVID-19 might be worse for kids than it's currently considered?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Because he’s got this bizarre Socialist Darwinist mindset that makes him think this pandemic is a good proving ground for the survival of the fittest. Somehow, reading this article makes his response to the pandemic seem legitimately coherent. It still doesn’t jibe with reality, but at least it finally makes internal sense why someone who lives on McDonalds because he’s scared of germs refuses to wear masks during a pandemic where it’s literally a matter of life and death.
Although, to be fair, he recently changed his mind about masks, but apparently, it’s because (and I wish I was making this up) he thinks it makes him look like The Lone Ranger.

In any case, if the schools get opened, Barron should also go in one of those overcrowded schools, and then hug his dad every day when he comes back from school.

Tell that stupid mole that everyone knows young kids are not very likely to die from covid, only their parents and grandparents. sheesh...
Why does nobody mention that? Or does she (and her baboon) think all those thousands in nursing homes who have died have caught it throwing wild pool parties
