Official live update of spread of COVID19

Quote:With nearly 60% of the eligible U.S. population fully vaccinated, most of the nation’s blood supply is now coming from donors who have been inoculated, experts said. That’s led some patients who are skeptical of the shots to demand transfusions only from the unvaccinated, an option blood centers insist is neither medically sound nor operationally feasible.

“We are definitely aware of patients who have refused blood products from vaccinated donors,” said Dr. Julie Katz Karp, who directs the blood bank and transfusion medicine program at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadelphia

I'm kinda surprised that there are enough unvaccinated donors to go around. After all, if they refuse to believe the science around vaccines, why would they accept the science around blood donation. More to the point. If they won't suffer two quick jabs, weeks apart, why would they let someone stick them long enough to drain an entire pint?

I'm confused, maybe someone can clarify. I tried finding the answer via Google, but the search engine seems to dislike me lately.

So, I have already been vaccinated, via the two-shot system. Now, there's a booster. Is it just both shots in one single dose? Do I get the booster although I've already been vaccinated?

From what I have been reading today they are looking at a third shot of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines roughly 8 months after your first two.

The Johnson one is still being looked at.

They will start again with the highest risk groups...age, health, medical personnel, etc. just like before and work there way through.

The plans are being firmed up.

Edit - https://www.cbsnews.com/news/covid-19-va...-8-months/

The Biden administration is expected later this week to recommend that the majority of Americans get a booster shot eight months after their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. The boosters would be administered once the vaccines are fully approved by the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention signs off on them.

COVID-19 symptoms and the Delta variant
An administration official and two sources familiar with the ongoing discussions told CBS News boosters will be recommended for individuals eight months after being fully vaccinated with the Pfizer or Moderna shot.

Federal health officials are waiting for more data before offering guidance for Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine recipients.

Studies on the efficacy and safety of mixing different vaccines are still ongoing, so the initial planning is likely for Americans to receive a booster of the same vaccine they were administered for their first two doses. Officials expect that a booster will also be needed for the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

He's been vaccinated so it's not likely.

So? Countless people got infected with COVID even though they were wearing masks (of course, only around 0.5% of them died, almost all of them elderly). It is not clear whether masks help at all. According to City Journal, of the 14 randomized controlled clinical trials on the effect of mask wearing during COVID-19 pandemic, only three found some positive effect, the other 11 found either no effect or a negative effect.

In other words, it is not JUST the Danish Study that suggested masks do not work, there were quite a few of them. And your anecdotes count for nothing.

This isn’t greed, exactly. It’s a stunningly cruel and heartless ‘me-ism’ that borders on psychopathy.

To be fair, though, America in other respects has been astoundingly generous throughout much of its history. Private citizens in the US donate more to charity than anyone else, and the US is always among the first to step up when disaster strikes.
