FSMB: Spreading COVID-19 Vaccine Misinformation May Put Medical License at Risk

The Federation of State Medical Boards’ Board of Directors released the following statement in response to a dramatic increase in the dissemination of COVID-19 vaccine misinformation and disinformation by physicians and other health care professionals on social media platforms, online and in the media:

“Physicians who generate and spread COVID-19 vaccine misinformation or disinformation are risking disciplinary action by state medical boards, including the suspension or revocation of their medical license. Due to their specialized knowledge and training, licensed physicians possess a high degree of public trust and therefore have a powerful platform in society, whether they recognize it or not. They also have an ethical and professional responsibility to practice medicine in the best interests of their patients and must share information that is factual, scientifically grounded and consensus-driven for the betterment of public health. Spreading inaccurate COVID-19 vaccine information contradicts that responsibility, threatens to further erode public trust in the medical profession and puts all patients at risk.”

A school district here in Texas got around Abbott's no mask mandate by making masks part of the dress code. Other districts are now scurrying to do the same.

It's insane to me that other entities have to play games to try to protect people because the "leader" won't.

Also, please don't miss the opportunity to call out the Republitards for their usual hypocrisy. They're always saying how much they hate big gov telling local communities what to do. Well, what is the governor of the state doing telling local school districts that they are not allowed to require masks?

If they pulled the 'no mask mandate' crap here,  my daughters said they'd be going to school in spaghetti strap tank tops, and DARE them to tell them they have to put a piece of cloth over their shoulders. And I'd probably let them.

It's only a political symbol for those in the trucker hats.  If your identity is so tied to ideology that a mask is a political symbol, you might as well stop pretending to think for yourself and join a church.

So, evidently, trying to survive this plague is just a partisan issue. It’s only a political symbol because somebody decided that trying to take the pandemic seriously was undermining his chance at re-election (and not potentially the one chance he could have had at creating a level of bipartisan respect that could not only ensure his re-election, but make him not end up as one of the most hated presidents in history) and decided to stick his head in the sand and risk the lives of millions.
