(Vaxxed USAians have been able to enter Canada for a couple months and for all practical purposes there was no impediment for foreigners wanting to cross into Mexico at any time).

In other news there are some unhinged anti vax Canadians on expat groups I belong to who are positively losing their minds.

A Florida school says students who get vaxxed must stay home for 30 days due to unfounded claim that they'll infect others

A private school in Miami, Florida, is requiring students who get vaccinated to quarantine at home for 30 days after each dose. 

That's because of a belief that vaccinated students can infect unvaccinated students, WSVN reported.

An infectious disease expert who spoke with WSVN characterized that belief as "science fiction."

The letter also urges parents to "hold off" on getting their children vaccinated until the summer "when there will be time for the potential transmission or shedding onto others to decrease."

Dennis Prager has tested positive for COVID. Not too surprising, but the more surprising thing: he apparently got it intentionally.

Right-wing personality and talk radio host Dennis Prager, who once “proved” COVID was nothing to worry about by describing his habit of eating with dirty utensils in restaurants, has now contracted COVID.

But, this wasn’t a bad thing, Prager insisted. In fact, getting sick with the virus was his plan all along, he announced Monday during his show, which streams daily on YouTube.

Washington State University has fired head football coach Nick Rolovich and four assistant coaches for refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19.



ESPN college football and basketball reporter Allison Williams announced that she would be leaving the network due to its vaccine mandate, according to NBC News. "I have been denied my request for accommodation," she said in an Instagram video post on Friday. "Effective next week, I will be separated from the company." Williams said last month that she decided not to "receive the COVID-19 vaccine at this time while my husband and I try for a second child."

For unvaccinated, reinfection by SARS-CoV-2 is likely

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been much uncertainty about how long immunity lasts after someone who is unvaccinated is infected with SARS-CoV-2.

Now a team of scientists led by faculty at Yale School of Public Health and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte have an answer. Strong protection following natural infection is short-lived.

“Reinfection can reasonably happen in three months or less,” said Jeffrey Townsend, the Elihu Professor of Biostatistics at the Yale School of Public Health and a lead author of the study. “Therefore, those who have been naturally infected should get vaccinated. Previous infection alone can offer very little long-term protection against subsequent infections.”

The study, published in the journal The Lancet Microbe, is the first to determine the likelihood of reinfection following natural infection and without vaccination.
