Maybe if he wasn’t committed to destroying the environment, pushing white supremacy, blatantly gaslighting the American people, locking up illegal immigrants in Concentration camps, repealing net neutrality, Pushing back human rights as far as is legally allowable, destroying any financial safety net poor people may have, rolling back what little shot Obamacare gave America had at the sort of universal health care that virtually every other developed nation has taken for granted for DECADES, spending billions on a border wall that will almost certainly fail at curbing illegal immigration, and generally acting like the mayor in Jaws who cares more about the Fourth of July celebrations than the fucking shark that’s eating his townspeople during the Coronavirus pandemic (with the added bonus of apparently wanting the big menace to kill a non-negligible part of the population.)

If he changed all of that, maybe we can talk. Maybe.

In other words, if he agrees to turn himself into pig feed for pigs that would never be consumed by humans, then.....

Even then I won’t vote for him.   Even the most unredeemable pigs deserves better.

Apparently, this is the actual demographic of the swing voters democrats are angling for.  Why we needed a moderate incrementalist who was old and white and male.  

We imagine that swing voters are socially liberal fiscal consewrvatives.  They aren't.  They're socially conservative fiscal liberals.  Bigots for sale.  People who would vote for a white supremacist administration if it benefited them personally.

We need left wing voters who recognize capitalism is powerful and without it we would be crippled.

We need right wing voters who recognize capitalism is great for them except that if left to run wild it would set up environmental collapse, social revolution and the modern equivalent of the guillotine for their kind.

Doesn't matter! Even with Trumps endorsement it will be years before an atheist can hold a major office in the U.S. On the flip side, The Moron in Chief's endorsement would set us back decades.

I'd vote for anyone who enacted policies that actually helped me, instead of gutting regulations and giving money to people and corporations that already have the lion's share of money. We just went through a primary where people constantly asked Bernie how we're going to pay for medicare for all, yet when the stock market crashed they suddenly have over 4 trillion dollars to pump into it.

This. And there's lots of other stuff to consider too, like whether something like UBI should be phased in, what to do about climate change and how best to replace capitalism (because frankly given what we've seen over the last twelve years that system of economics is broken beyond repair).

As has been repeatedly demonstrated capitalism is a self destructive system of economic usage which has a lifetime of about thirty years, as has been demonstrated over and over again. While having an avenue for profitmaking be in an economic system, any system which devises all it's rules based on making profit (especially so if the profits are short term) is not going to work.

Over time a mixed system of profit and non profit entities with the state as the most important (if not dominant) actor has come out well ahead of any capitalistic system, even in the USA.

Powerful and self-destructive are orthogonal, not muturally contradictory.   

A ultimately self-destructive system that can overwhelm and submerge other theoretically more stable systems while it lasted is all powerful despite its instability.     The fate of any system that eschew what makes capitalistic system powerful in favor of some other aesthetic concern is very likely to be crushed by someone else’s capitalism.
