Why would you apologize?
Why wouldn't you stop calling him names/ridiculing him?
Those sentences exist at the same moment in time. Pick a street I say. You clearly enjoy being rude and calling him out all over the forums. I find it hilarious and his reactions to you are what make it funny. You send up some baiting statement and he bumbles right through whatever you say to him so I would lean towards why would you apologize for your behavior when you clearly don't give a fuck?

I apologize to Brian when I go over the line, when I’ve unintentionally misquoted him, things like that.
I am sincerely trying to help him be a better, more mature person. Because I DO give a fuck. However, there seems to be some negative feelings about my back and forth with Brian, I’m willing to adjust my behaviour to the extent that I won’t reply to any of his posts unless he has addressed me directly.

I'm merely adding commentary kind of like you do to him I guess although I find you far less... whatever Brian37 is... how to put it tactfully... obtuse, yes that is part of it. Resorting to pathos as a form of argumentation! that is the backbone of it.
At any rate, your "help" is amusing to me. I'm a father of three and have resorted to your kind of chiding to modify behavior and the results are not the best but it can be fun.
