Our house, a rental, is dotted with alarms. The best one is a CO2 detector at one of the highest points in the house.

Our gas company once tried to sell us 'triple detectors' that could detect natural gas, CO and C02. The funny bit of their pitch was that the alarms had a different tone for each gas.
Why? Sound the alarm - any alarm - and I'll get the fuck out.
