What's the point of this thread? It has zero discussion value.

Sure it does.
We've been telling our "essential workers" to put up with this risk or starve the entire time. Who were they, btw? Doctors and nurses? Not really. They were minimum wage low level employees. Trash collectors. Fast food workers. Walmart shelf stockers. Those were our essentials, who couldn't get assistance, because they weren't involuntarily made to stay home. Now we're going to extend that same courtesy to every other poor person.
Our admin didn't want a shutdown, and when shut down, it didn't want any emergency pennies going to "essential workers". Stimmy payments went to debt collectors. Child support enforcement got in on the act too..and even though an injured spouse claim is supposed to protect these payments..there was no one at the IRS (they're not essential) to process the claims, so they didn't.
Many have been told that stimulus checks might reach them by sept. The pandemic is still a thing, help has not arrived, and we're being told to go die for the dow. If this isn't discussion worthy...then the fact that it isn't would be discussion worthy. It's rare to be so openly treated like livestock.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

You’re not doing someone a fucking favor when go out to eat. It’s just a fucking transaction.
So sick of this backpatting bullshit.
Let’s help out by going out to eat. No.
Having worked in food and retail all my life, to the fuckfaces who don't know how their ovens friges work in a snowstorm/hurricane, FUCK YOU! This virus is far worse. It will kill the asshole who feels self entitled too. This virus isn't Easter Sunday.
I really do feel sorry for anyone who has to work under these horrible conditions. What does knowing how your Fridge and stove work have to do with anything? In order to put food in your fridge or stove you have to go out to get it, and someone has to package that food, ship that food, deliver that food, and sell that food, there is an entire network of people that have to be at work in order to make cooking your food at home possible. Sure you could catch kill and clean your own food but you don't strike me as the type and really how many people are doing that.

My point is I have a lot of empathy for workers, but morso especially now. It sucks to have to choose between not working and becoming homeless and going to work and getting sick or even dying.
But even prior to this virus, anyone who has worked food service, and I have, knows what it is like to get slammed being short staffed and not having the time to do all that is demanded of you. And working in a kitchen has tons of injury risks too.
I have several friends who are forced to work, and I do not envy them. I have a nurse friend who moved to NY and left the nursing home out of fear of getting sick or getting others sick. I have a physical therapist friend who still works in a nursing home. My best friend in Oklahoma works at a Walmart deli. I fear for every single one of them.

I work for a food distributor and we distribute mainly to the virgin islands, the choice for me is not as simple as choosing to work or be homeless. Many people who work in essential businesses go to work knowing that other people are counting on them to do so. Grocery stores and restaurants on those islands are depending on that food and we are depending on our suppliers and the shipping company to be operating.
