Jesus...
Dumbasses..
It was a caucasian Barbie with dark hair.
A stupid act? Pretty much the whole protest goes in the stupid column...
But racist for hanging Barbie?
You seen Gov Whitmer? Caucasian with dark hair?
Ever heard of "hanging in effigy"?
Somebody needs thicker skin.
Considering that the noose has a horrible history in this country, and we are not talking about a spaghetti western here, maybe you should be more sensitive as to why sane people object to its use?
For the record, of the fifty states, four have nonwhite governors, two of them could easily pass for white, and zero are black. So, race shouldn’t really enter into it.
On the other hand, what we have here is, at the very least, an implicit threat to a governor’s life because she put restrictions in place that are meant to save lives because there is a deadly virus going around killing people. If it’s a serious threat, do I really have to explain why that’s a bad thing? If it’s not serious, can you at least think of the optics of putting a potential death threat against the governor AT THE STATE CAPITOL?
Frankly, regardless of race, lynching is fucking monstrous.
Fun fact: this is based on an actual event. While in the film, they content themselves with burning the jail down, in real life, the perps were busted out of jail so the mob could take them out and hang them. The impetus for the crime: Brooke Hart, the eldest son of a prominent San Jose family, was kidnapped. Eventually, the cops nabbed two guys and arrested them. Tempers flared to the point that people decided to lynch them themselves. After Hart’s body was found and the perps were allegedly in talks to plead insanity, the people of San Jose decided to beat up the California justice system for its milk money, broke them out of jail, and hanged them. It was broadcast live on the radio and the governor even said he’d pardon anyone prosecuted for their role in the lynchings. Bear in mind, the guys were most likely guilty, and were both white. Doesn’t make it much less monstròus than the many incidents of innocent black people going through the same fate.
