Not as rare as you might think

I think this depends on your definition of rare. If, say, 1% of people could handle it, that still leaves about 75 million in the whole world, over 3 million in the US alone, or maybe since you're from Ottawa (according to your profile), that could be a bit south of 10,000 for that city. I think it's safe to assume, regardless of the actual incidence, that being able to put the needs of several others above yourself in a loving relationship is not something the majority of people can pull off. It seems hard enough for just two people working together!
I find the opposite true i find with more partners the task of satisfying needs is easier then with two people because your alone with that person . I find it easier to keep more people happy then when i tried a single relationship because there is more support. I think reason it isn't more common is the perception it will be harder than a two person relationship.

What ‘type’ did you have in mind?

Boru

Any type which the law does not recognize.  The salient attribute is lack of recognition by law, not the type of interpersonal relationships it betokens.

I am also in a polyamorous relationship, although my wife's other partner is long distance. I have had other (dating) partners, but nothing currently.

Yes, it is definitely easier to have more people as support. It can be nice to have a moderator, another person to look at things and make loving suggestions.

I think, all too often, the overall culture regards romantic relationships as a type of ownership. But I don't want to *own* another person. I want my partner(s) to be happy and fulfilled. If that means having another partner, I don't see a problem with it.

So, in answer to the question of who would get involved with a woman interested in polyamory; I would, and am.

And, I can assure you, religion has no part in this for any of us.

Possibly apocryphal: The Chinese character for trouble is "Two Women Under One Roof".

I think a woman should be able to have as many husbands and/or wives as she can handle.

Not at all apocryphal: An Irish saying, ‘Two women in the same house and one of them a redhead’ indicates a protracted period of strife or bad luck. No actual women required.

I believe the Chinese character for trouble is actually a composite made up of two ideograms for “wood” under an ideogram for “house”

I can’t find any Chinese character made of two ideograms for woman under ideograms for roof or house.

There is an composit character made of two ideograms for “woman” under a third ideograms also for “woman”, it means evil, or rape.
