[Quranic Reflection]: Women have the right to state their own rights in the marriage

RE: [Quranic Reflection]: Women have the right to state their own rights in the marriage
At work.

Sorry for dipping an oar in late.

Could some one clarify the history/details/etc in regards to the faith under discussion and the whole 'Multiple wives and/or Harem' issue?

Other than what's been depicted by the old Hollywood 'Arabian nights' I really have no idea.

Cheers.

Disrupting the discussion which speaks about marriage in Islam with repeated messages about slavery like FM did IS the violation of the rules.

https://atheistforums.org/thread-61203-p...pid1985514

Mods who intentionally ignore rules like rule #8 which says:

Quote:8.Trolling is not allowed. Troll behavior includes, but is not limited to repeatedly:

   Making provocative posts.
Making posts that are unrelated / irrelevant to the thread or conversation subject.
   Disrupting normal discussion.
Provoking specific members by referring to them negatively on your profile/signature.

https://atheistforums.org/rules.php#trolling

Such biased mods are not "mods". Their judgement is not fair;rather "biased". Such mods are corruption to the place they are in.

AF was once great because it didn't allow such corruption to touch it.
It didn't have compromises or mods who bellydance around rules.

But now it has; you are the example with your current behavior.

Back to the op:

FM's post, which you referenced, speaks at length about the status of women in an Islamic marriage, and under what circumstances a woman can be beaten, one of which is her refusal to have sex with her husband. To any reasonable person, this qualifies as 'sexual slavery' and goes directly to the rights of an Islamic wife.  It is perfectly relevant to the OP, whether you agree with it or not.  It hasn't disrupted conversation, whether you agree with it or not.

Having multiple wives in Islam is only permitted if one feared not to be just towards orphans:

Quote:Sura 4, The Quran:
https://quran.ksu.edu.sa/index.php?l=en#...rans=en_sh

( 3 )   And if you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry those that please you of [other] women, two or three or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then [marry only] one or those your right hand possesses. That is more suitable that you may not incline [to injustice].

So in order to marry more than one woman; the man should prove that he tried to act justly towards orphans but he failed. You can of course see that a court is needed to decide the man's claims which usually doesn't happen.
