This is technically more a trans thing than a gay thing, but here’s a video I recently found of Wendy Carlos demonstrating the Moog synthesizer on the BBC. And, by an extraordinary coincidence, this happened around the same time she as scoring my favorite film of all time:





Two things immediately strike me: first, she does an amazing job of explaining how the synth works, as well as electronic tone generation as a whole, and it’s kind of sad to find that she stayed a recluse even after she had fully transitioned. And it’s especially impressive when you’re familiar with how bizarrely complicated the Moog interface was. Hell, I have the mini Moog app on my iPad, and while it’s still a watered down version of a watered down version of the modular synths she was using at the time, it’s still bewildering to imagine how the thing even works with all those knobs.

Second, she has this very uncanny appearance. Well, thereby hangs a tale. Around the time she recorded Switched-On Bach, she was undergoing counseling and had even started to do hormones. The album became a big hit and eventually gave her the money she needed to finally get the chop. Unfortunately, all the fame went to Walter Carlos, not Wendy. Eventually, she was contracted to perform excerpts from the album live with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra (and given that the album required a shitton of multi tracking just to work, I’m also curious how doing it live would have worked.) But by that point, not only was she finally starting to accept her new identity (one which contradicted the record company’s idea of her), but she had progressed to the point where she actually had to take effort to pass for male again. So, after crying in her hotel room, she wore that same wig and fake sideburns and went on with the show. She even did it when she met with Kubrick to score His movie A Clockwork Orange. And then, she finally came out in 1979 (apparently record company politics played a role in delaying this announcement) and nobody seemed to care too much. So all that effort she put into pretending to be Walter for over a decade wound up being for nothing.

Family of Bullied Gay Teen Who Killed Self Suing School District

The parents of a Huntsville, Ala., teen who killed himself in 2019 after being bullied at school for being gay are now suing the school district, reports AL.com, a website for several Alabama newspapers.

A North Carolina gay couple began planning their upcoming wedding, and contacted a nearby wedding venue to inquire about holding the joyous event there.

The wedding venue told them they “have chosen not to participate in same-sex weddings at this time,” citing their “Christian values” and even going so far as to say that they’re the real victims of discrimination here.

You are everywhere. There are shows about you on Netflix, amazon, HBO, everybody WAS scrambling to make shows about you or with characters you can relate too.

They learned the same thing we all already knew. Your basically the same as not-gay viewers, watch tv about the same as not-gay viewers and spend about as much as ... YOU GUESSED IT! NOT GAY VIEWERS! They realized your us, just a minority.

These teens are rejecting confirmation in protest of church's anti-LGBT stance

"We want to be clear that, while we love our congregation, we believe that the United Methodist policies on LGBTQ+ clergy and same sex marriage are immoral," the group wrote in a statement. "We are concerned that if we join at this time, we will be sending a message that we approve of this decision."

The teens object to a February vote that reinforced the church's stance against ordaining gay clergy and performing same-sex weddings. Delegates of the denomination's General Conference voted 438-384 in favor of the policies following several days of dramatic testimony and prayer.

"Depending on how this church responds to the general conference action, we will decide at a later time whether or not to become officially confirmed," the group's statement said. "But until then, we will continue to stand up against the unjust actions that the denomination is taking."

Nah. Gays are as shit as everyone else. The Catholic Church. Far right politicians that get caught with male hookers. Gay serial killers. Hillary Clinton. Alex Jones (was caught watching chicks with dicks porn). Ellen Degeneres, one of the people who made it acceptable to be gay on television, is reportedly a huge piece of garbage and a bully. Gays are people just like anyone else, and all types of people are flawed.
