It is time to put the "Hammer" down.

This following episode has to be my favorite. It has a punchline referencing my more favorite "Moonlighting" 80s detective comedy/drama.

Sledge Hammer was a great show.

I still love how he was introduced in the pilot.

Reporter: "An armed robbery at this grocery store was thwarted by the man standing next to me. Inspector Sledge Hammer, can you tell us what happened in your own words?"

Hammer, holding two grocery bags, "Well miss, I was doing my shopping when two men burst in and threatened the owner with shotguns. It was then that I drew my magnum and killed them both. Then I bought some milk, some eggs, and some ofvthose little cocktail wieners."

Reporter, "Inspector Hammer, is what you did absolutely necessary?"

Hammer, "Oh yes. I had no groceries at all."

Two things I didn't realize until now. The "General" in one  of Sledge Hammer was a spoof name of the food company "General Mills" and the actor who played him also played military personnel in both Magnum PI and The A Team.

I love this following episode, spoofing the Dirty Harry movie where they had the police shooting competition.

The captain in this episode goes first. Then they announce Hammer, and all the judges and audience behind them duck and run.

Now while of course my late mother was not a cop, I can totally identify with trying to take care of a elderly stubborn independent person. So much of this following episode reminds me of trying to take care of my mother.
