One does not choose their religion. Convictions don't work like choosing an ice cream.

If, someday, I was suffiently convinced that a diety existed, then I would believe that to be true despite what other people's would say.

Anyways, welcome.

Yes and no. It is certainly more forgivable if one is sold a superstition from youth. But if you are an adult and just because you had a "moment" even as an adult you cant explain should not cause one to fall into old mythology. There is also such a thing as willful ignorance.

Since there's no qualifier of what would convince me, then you can't presume what would convince me. Simple, really.

I've joked in the past that it would take nothing short of brain damage to make me believe in a god. The point is that I don't know what it would take, but I'd know it when I saw it.

Besides, I already have changed my mind on a conviction; I used to believe in God, but the 2 versions of The Ten Commandments in the Bible sent me down a path that made me free from faith.

This information is relevant to my interest. Can I get a condensed version of this?

Sunnis and Shiites argue the same thing.

Only Protestantism disproves itself because Protestantism is in direct violations with the bible.
To your surprise  I can disarm every protestant in minutes while there is little literature on catholic out there debunking Catholicism from a atheist perspective. The best  I have is that Catholicism is self contradictory.

If the bible and the church conflicts who has presidence? And if the catholic chose the church then why even have this bible book around? What is the point of reading from this bible thing?

The rest is the usual
"why should anyone believe what this guy in funny clothing says?"

It also does not help that the RCC has a nasty habit of faking miracles or investigating disturbed people or fakers who want to have a miracle verified by the RCC.

OK thanks for this info.

This is the introduction thread, but trust me, it does not matter the specific sect, or even any religion worldwide. It is all old mythology made up by humans who didn't know where the sun went at night.

When I was 13 years old and on my 5th reading of the Bible I noticed there were 2 versions of The Ten Commandments, and I reasoned with myself, paraphrasing, why would God need 2 versions? He's God, yet He can't get it "right" the first time? I had previously read and come across all the other contradictions, but the way I read I never realized the inconsistencies, contradictions and plain immorality present in it. You're kinda blindsided when you believe, not noticing what is right in front of you while reading. It's only when you start comparing the text with itself at other places and later with reality that you notice any misgivings at all.

Great question/change. What passages are you specifically referring to? I know there is a non standard version of the 10 commandments in the bible however the guy I got this info from gave the impression that he was forcing so I wanted to read it all for myself only got distracted by other problems the bible was creating (see picture).

Can you give me the passages for the location of these things? With a small explanation?

With this out of the way the atheist comedy segment presents:
Did you know your religion is ancient scam to get free food?

Read the bible for yourself folks!

Exodus 20:2-17 &
Deuteronomy 5:6-17

Nothing to explain, they're pretty straight forward.
