Pick one. Do I want to limit the freedom of movement of people I disagree with? No, I just think that if a fire is raging, maybe you make sure people don’t throw gasoline on the fire. You said it in the OP: people are rioting, a guy killed two men and made a bullshit self-defense claim, and the president is going along with it. The fuck do you think he’s coming to Kenosha for? The Mars Cheese Castle? Lighting up at the Bong State Recreation Area? And if he’s just going there for shit like that, I’m okay with that. The fact remains that he’s not just coming there for a little trip. This is a campaign stop in a volatile area, where he’s made his opinions clear, and if he somehow managed to pull a 180 and do something like this:
Frankly, I’d sooner expect it to rain frogs. To be fair, that has happened far more times than Trump actually giving a thoughtful response to racial violence.
And the contradiction you cite is only a contradiction if you think there’s a possibility he’s actually going to help the situation. They’re protesting against systemic racism and Trump has made abundantly clear that he’s not only siding against them, but with white nationalist violence.

My thoughts -
I have carried a concealed pistol - almost every day - for going on 20 years. I have not had an incident to date.
A big part of that is because I avoid areas where trouble might be likely to happen.
Like riots.
The kid is lucky I won't be on his jury - because I would likely go along with the prosecutor on this one. He could have stayed home and not been part of the problem. And - he should not have dragged a loaded gun into a riot situation. Trained professionals only do that as a last resort.
Were I the prosecutor - I would also go after whoever got him his rifle - because a 17 year old cannot legally purchase one.
He brought the fight to the crowd.
If the crowd had brought the fight to him - it would be a different story.
