Question about "faith"
RE: Question about "faith"
Since the word soul is a translation from the original Hebrew, you are putting the cart before the horse by saying we disagree about what a soul is, as opposed to disagreeing about what נֶ֫פֶשׁ means.

Scraping the bottom of the barrel there, John. I'm not interested in bickering with a cultist over the proper translation of their magic books. I don't care.

I've been wondering why you're so uncomfortable with so much of your own religion that you've selected this route for the thread, start to finish.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

You care enough about the bickering to consistently get things wrong. That's more than chance would predict in statistical terms lol.

And so you continue to claim...

The only problem is, there are about 30K denominations of Christianity, and many of them disagree on major points of doctrine.

I can assure you, that it would be quite easy to find dozens of Christians among my own family and friends, that disagree with you on some of what you claim is 'correct'. And they can refer to Bible passages to support their contention that they are correct, and you are wrong.

And I could also query many theology schools, and also get different interpretations of your claims that we are wrong.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

That's the equivalent of non-scientists claiming science isn't reliable because scientists disagree. I don't believe truth is established by unanimous vote, perhaps you do, and we can disagree about that.

So, your religious views are "Truth"?

STFU

Also, I can tell you are not any form of scientist, though you certainly know some canned Popper quotes.

Oh, I understand that you believe you have the truth.

But how would you go about demonstrating that you do have the truth, and all those other sects of Christianity are wrong? Wouldn't they say that they're the ones with the truth of Christianity, and you are the one that got it wrong?

Please provide a method that can demonstrate that you are the one that got it right.

Not to mention, that yes, scientists do disagree on some aspects of theories. But what they don't disagree on is the demonstrable empirical evidence.

Example: some scientists tend to side with string theory, some don't. But they all agree with the evidence. They are in disagreement with where it leads.

Please share an example of theists all agreeing with the evidence, but not on the conclusion.

I never said I had truth; only that truth isn't achieved by agreement. And you cannot possibly demonstrate that all scientists agree on anything lol. It's not like they go around taking surveys on such things.

Here's a prediction: If every science paper had to be reviewed by every scientist alive, no paper would ever get published lol.

Tsk tsk tsk

Now you're gonna spin some bullshit about peer review?
