I'm not talking about numbers of politicians - I'm talking about actual representation. The fact that they can capture government and still lose only feeds into the narrative.
-like clockwork, a case in point.
Joni Ernst ran on a platform that could only be described as absurd farm girl cosplay. Couldn't tell you the break price of soybean, she opposes obamacare, and wants to "reform" the social safety net. She denies climate change and has advocated for the elimination of the dept of education, the epa, and the federal minimum wage. She can't bring herself to oppose trumps trade war with china......and she ran unopposed by any other republican because...obviously, she's just a great fit for all those rural iowans.
If you were to fill every government position with clones of joni ernst, rural america would still have precisely zero representation. There is no future for rural america, and no solution for problems in the present, in that morass.
