I'll admit that 14 shots is excessive.
When is the cops giving him a reason to believe they simply going to gun him down the moment he dropped it eliminated as an option?

Running at two cops with guns when you only have a knife takes balls. He was afraid of going to jail maybe. Not afraid of the cops. Big difference there.

If you want to say black lives matter, fine, but not when it's suicide and they're putting other people at risk of harm. Then that life doesn't matter. Not one bit. He got his wish. He avoided jail.

How do you know that the cops gave him a reason to believe that? That to continue to hold the knife and advance on them was the safe option, ya know, vs dropping the knife?

That's a pretty silly retort.

If the suspect is running at you when you have 30 cops surrounding him, the cops he is running at can back off and run themselves, and as the suspect is distracted by that target, the cops behind him can taser him or hit him with rubber bullets. He still didn't have to die.

Again, there are plenty of videos online of cops taking down armed suspects, even those with guns, and don't kill them.

It is a matter of training. And having enough non lethal weapons, wide parameter and distance.

A taser might not do the job, and you can't just run away and give him the chance to take someone hostage or stab someone else. He lunged. He kept moving towards them. He didn't want to go to jail, and they granted his wish.

And the reason Dylan Roof and the theatre shooter are alive is because they surrendered. They cared about their lives enough to comply. This idiot didn't. Nothing to do with skin colour.

I'm arguing from the fact of why should he trust the cops wouldn't? and they have in other instances. If either way he gets shot neither is the safer option if the result is you wind up dead.

I disagree

No, it takes desperation so the rest doesn't follow

Nothing to do with BLM every effort should be made to talk down a suicidal individual as they are reachable and their life still matters. But we have not even established he was suicidal so this point is moot.

Should have been tried anyway

No indication would have happened

None of these conclusions are supported

Might be on account of how knife wielding loons don't work for us, and cops do.

The odds are better with dropping the knife, or even better, not picking up the knife to begin with. I don't know all of the details but someone called to police for a reason. When the police arrived the reason appeared to be a guy threatening people with a knife, who refused to drop the knife.

Sometimes the responsibility/liability falls on the offender, including death.

Yet a white Trump supporter waved a gun in the face of some teenage girls after someone else threw water at him and the cops let him walk.

Doesn't matter. If you feel you have nothing to lose, and you think police are going to kill you anyway you won't be thinking straight.

Here are some armed white people whom had more than knives that were not killed.
