Explosion in Nashville this morning.

RE: Explosion in Nashville this morning.
Watching live on CNN, Anderson Cooper is reporting that although the President was informed of the bombing, they only got a WH aid to speak on his behalf about it, saying that he was appreciative of the first responders and were praying for them. But also reported that he is not expected to speak directly on camera about the event today. But he has once again spent today bitching about how unfair the election has been on Twitter, and golfing again.

And normally it is tradition for a President to allow the press in while talking to the Troops on a holiday. But the asshole is refusing to let the press in, because he doesn't want to take questions about the sudden flip on the rescue amount going from $600 to him now claiming he wants $2,000. Plus he doesn't want to take questions about nixing a pay raise for military members.

That is NOT how you lead. At a minimum a sane President would make a public statement about such an event shortly after it happens to re assure the public that they will not stop until the perp/s are caught.

But then again, we are talking about this asshole.

This bit of insanity is very interesting. The perp seems to have wanted to make a big statement by making a big BLAM!!! A bomb damaging 20+ buildings definitely gets one's attention. Yet he/she took pains to avoid human casualties. Not only was there a warning of when the bomb would go off, there was a minute-by-minute countdown.

I'm following this with great anticipation. The perp is not your typical terrorist.

No, but he qualifies as a typical looney. He would go to Hell if he killed somebody you know.

At work.

Uhm.... It was a motor home. A timed sound system, so possibility some simple computer bits running that side of things.

How expensive is an RV? I might see one every month or so. Here they aren't that common.

So... seemingly not soms small investment. Not a VW or Morris Minor and a lunch-box of black powder set off by an alarm clock kind of thing.

There'd be more than one person involved I'd be thinking.

Unless America is growing 'Unabombers' by the bushel nowadays?

Wishing every one over there is safe.

I imagine a used RV could be had for not a lot of money. After all, it only needed to run well enough and long enough to get to the bomb site - could have even been an old junker. Or a rental.

It was likely to have been a low-tech bomb, given the size of the blast.

I agree that it probably wasn’t a loner who did this.

Oh, well. We’ll have the answers sooner rather than later, I think.

Old used up RVs are a dime a dozen, and stolen ones are even cheaper. The timing mechanism does not have to be high tech at all - have a pre-recorded message of known duration and a separate separate timer of the same duration. Set them at the same time and stroll away.

I'd speculate that given the size of the vehicle that the bombers were possibly trying a larger explosion (Oklahoma City) and the bomb fizzled. I'd also speculate that it was a very low tech ANFO bomb and that the perps are likely RWNJs.

Just how common are they? "Dime a dozen." is like "Metric fek-ton." right?

Very technical terms. Must admit I do kind of use 'em a lot m'self t'be honest. Tongue

Still.... a sound system to go up along with the whole shebang?

Pity they seemed to have been unlucky enough to have had Nashville's only deaf person walking by. Or they had on even better headphones to drown out the country music. Tongue

Kidding aside, wishing everyone is safe.

Going with the whole low-tech theme, the ‘sound system’ could have been something as simple as a cassette recorder and a loudspeaker.

A bit of googling indicates you could do the whole thing - including explosives - for under $5000US.
