Bosh. If you don't thin the herds they over-populate the area, cause all kinds of problems for the local ecology and tend to wind up in front of a Mom with five kids while she's doing 60 mph down a dark country road. We've eliminated the predators to a great extent and have to step in to replace them. In Yellowstone we see the rebound when wolves were reintroduced, but too many dumb fucks with guns shoot wolves reflexively. Well, they don't think about much anyway.
Having said that I've never hunted anything that couldn't hunt me back. Last thing was a nuisance mountain lion near Alpine, California. RE: She's a Killer.

Do you have trouble seeing the value of sport in general, or just in this context?
I'm not big on deer. That's dog food. Our pets have a huge carbon footprint and our deer (which is redundant, frankly) are an ecological disaster. The OP and his SO are filling their freezer, honing a perishable skill, and helping the environment.

I say it hasn't and won't because these are facts. We can believe that we shouldn't go out of our way to kill deer. We can believe (and, fwiw, the op does actually believe) that killing for sport is Bad™. Still, the facts of deer remain facts. They're woodland rats with horns. A plague that we've created, that Nature has no way of dealing with. If we ever get the Z - I garauntee you it will come from deer. They already have it. It's just waiting to cross over. Killing deer is one of the best things that a person can (legally) do to restore the n american biome.

The way I see it is that someone got their knickers in a twist over some FB banning and are now here to just be antagonistic with their, oh so stealthy, methods of blocking, ignoring, and generally thumbing their nose at any rules.
Imperial Mullet works for me but it still isn't a hippie hairstyle...at least nothin like I saw back in the day. |
