I'm not surprised an American would say that. Many Wastes of Skin (a derogatory term for "human") think they're entitled to kill animals indiscriminately and anyone in their way. I wonder how do you justify the genocide of the native Americans a few hundred years ago...

Its very much not a hippy thing, lol. I'm going to valhalla, and a few lucky septuagenarian hens are coming with me on counterfeit tokens.

I suppose that it can come as a surprise to people that killing some animal can sometimes be the best thing for that animal or for the idealized environment?
I'd say that's part of the problem. We need more hunters but..somehow, hunting has been turned into The Bad Thing. Even (contemporary)hunters have ideas about waste.

I seriously doubt you would think the same way, if the roles were reversed and you were the one who's hunted.

That's a credible expectation but unfounded in my case. I shoot and I've been shot at - but I'd love to bring it more closely back round to hunting. Suppose a deer figured out how to use a gun - I'd say fair play to the deer.
That'd make november a hell of alot more exciting.

OMG, thread sideways.
@ rado84: Do you have a line where animal killing for food is acceptable or is it always unacceptable? Maybe a sliding scale for acceptable killing?
For instance, is it OK to kill an alligator? A frog? A fish? A snail?

I don't see anything decent in killing an innocent animal that hasn't threatened you in any way. If the animal is a threat to your wellbeing, like a bear running towards you, for instance, then it's OK. But killing animals for sports - that's not decency, that's cowardice.
Are you a strict vegitarian? If not - you are a hypocrite.
I don't hunt for "sport".
I have a chest freezer FULL of venison to prove it.
Furthermore - hunters are currently the ONLY check on deer herd size - and here in Michigan there simply are not enough hunters. Consequently the deer herd is swollen and communicable diseases are beginning to kill off the herds. Eastern Equine Encephelitis, Chronic Wasting Disease and Blue Tongue disease are starting to take hold. This will likely put off hunters from hunting - causing a spiral in diseased deer.
This is real life - not that Bambi cartoon.
There is no "Old Age Home" for sick and crippled deer.
In your dream scenario - a deer can starve to death, or be torn apart by wolves (the wolves would be the beneficiary of nobody hunting).
Or - they can get a bullet.
Personally I would rather my own death quick.. I would rather not even see it coming.

I don't care, nature will find a way to correct itself without human's intervention. And the mom should find herself a job, instead of spreading her legs every time she gets the chance.
I was going to point out how humans are technically a part of nature and how there are still checks on how and when hunters are to kill animals so humanity doesn’t go overboard on herd thinning like we have done so many times before, but then I read that second sentence and it got me thinking: how the fuck has nobody pointed out the obvious troll here?

Let me post something. Humanity has never, not once, gone overboard on herd thinning. Anybody looking to have mammoth run through their hood? Unmanned front end loaders with shitty attitude?
