I used them back in 1985 during basic training in the US Air Force. Why give the TIs ("Training Instructors" as they were known) any more ammunition?

I remember the TIs berating some unfortunate trainee wearing shoes with laces: "What's the matter Airman, can't you even tie your goddamn shoe?!"

Velcro rocks.
